JETS!!

It's been a while since I wrote something here, so let's get to it. I know I wrote in the past how I was pissed at their poor play, and yada, yada, yada. However, this team did not lay down and die, and they have a shot at making the playoffs. I know people are saying it is a cheap win since they sat down Peyton Manning, but that is a load of crap. All teams who clinch home advantage toward seasons end, sit their regulars, so they will be ready for the playoffs. The Jets still had to win and they did. All I can say is that the stadium will be rocking next Sunday night!!

Jets Stuff

Well, it's been a while since I posted anything here. But now that there is a bit of controversy on the Jets, it's time to come out of hibernation. Sanchez won't play Sunday and for good reason. He needs to rest up for the more important games coming up. However he is a BIG baby. You can't put yourself before the team. You have to do what is best for the team and best for yourself. Publicly announcing you are angry at the coach is wrong and selfish. Let's hope Clarence Clemens can do what little is asked of him. Let's face it, the play calling will be conservative. Let's hope the running game and Feely's leg are firing on all cylinders.

I can relate

The Giants lost a horrible game yesterday. Now understand I am not gloating, since as a season ticket-holder for the Jets, I have seen many games like that. However, how can you lose a game like that? They have 2 weeks to figure it out. Now that the Jets had their bye, let's see what they can do in the second half of the season.

Good and Bad

Well, the Jets got off the schneid and beat the Raiders yesterday. Too bad they couldn't have beaten the Bills last week and had a 5-2 record, but I will take it. Running game was outstanding. And Sanchez didn't do a whole lot...besides having that hot dog on the sideline late in the game....but he made no mistakes and that was a good thing. Now the bad. Losing Jenkins last week was bad enough , now Leon Washington is out for the season, That is huge since they lost a great kickoff return guy. Hopefully they have guys to step up and try and do what Leon did on kickoffs. The Fish is next. Time to beat them after that horrible loss on Monday night a couple of weeks ago!!

Some Sports Stuff

It's been a while since I posted anything, so here goes, but I will be brief. First, congrats to the Yanks for moving on. Second, the Giants are certainly on a roll with a 5-0 record. Let's see what transpires. Lastly and most importantly, The Jets have to bounce back from that bad game last week. Specifically Sanchez. I hope they can show the country on Monday Night football, that they can. And you know what...THEY WILL. SQUISH THE FISH!!! J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!!

Well, we certainly look like we have a hell of a football team. I know it took the offense a while to get going, but they did show up in the second half. But how about that awesome defense. Brady was running for his life all day. This Jets team looks real good. I know there is a lot more football to be played, but to be 2-0 and atop the AFC East in week 2, is fine with me!!

Sunday, September 13, 2009

HOW BOUT THEM JETS!!

I know it is only one win. And I know that The Jets play the Patriots next week, but they did look good. Sanchez was amazing and the defense was awesome. Of course some not so good. Bad penalties. That has to be stopped. But overall, this team has the potential to be very competitive.

Well...

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL????????????

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it wasn't for bad luck....

....The Mets would have no luck at all. What else is going to happen to this team? Besides the injuries and horrible replacements, they hit into an unassisted triple play to end yesterday's game. Granted that this is the first time in a few years they have been out of contention at this point in the season, but It still stinks.

Jets

Meant to write this yesterday.
All I will say is, Sanchez looks phenominal. Yes he only played one series, but to come out throwing a bomb on his first ever pass in the NFL...albeit pre-season...and to have a nice drive was very impressive. I hope he beats Clemens in the QB competition. I thing the Jets will be more successful.

Jets/Mets

Well, Friday starts the pre-season for the Jets. The QB situation is still way up in the air. Whoever is in there, I hope they fare better than that guy that played last year. What was his name again.....oh yeah...Fav-re. And to all the people who bought Favre Jet jerseys last year, I can only answer a la Nelson from the Simpson's.........HA-ha!!
As far as the Mets, they are done. I would rather them do what they did the last 2 seasons than play like they are playing now. No heart.

Monday, August 3, 2009

Sports Stuff

Well, the Mets looked like they were starting to do something to possibly have a shot at the wild card, but are now back to 7 1/2 games behind. No consistency at all.

On a brighter side, Jets football training camp opened up starting the Rex Ryan era.
Of course a big issue is who will play QB. It is way to early to speculate whether Clemens or Sanchez will be the one. One thing should be good. The defense. All this remains to be seen, but at least football is back.

Baseball seems done...at least for us Met fans...ugh.

Paul McCartney

I saw Paul at Citi Field Saturday. The way the Mets are playing, this is probably the best thing to happen there all year. However he was awesome! He did about 80% Beatle songs, Wings and other stuff, and rocked the place out. He still looks and sounds great. The cherry on the sundae so to speak, was as we were walking back to the car, we had to wait for the tour bus to pass us by, and Paul was in front waving to everybody. THAT WAS COOOOOL!!

Thursday, July 16, 2009

And now for the 2nd half.....

Okay fellow Met fans, the second half of the season starts today. Hopefully we can get Beltran and Reyes back real soon....and Delgado....no one knows for sure when. And maybe they can get on a roll.
Plus Pedro Martinez is now on Philadelphia. I won't make any disparaging remarks, but whenever a player from a NY team signs with a rival...well....it sometimes get interesting. That is all I will say.

Monday, July 6, 2009

Yecch!!

The Mets were swept by the Phillies and are now 4 games out of 1st place. The Dodgers are next. I am going 7/9. Unless an amazing turnaround happens and their bats get hot, I guess the only thing I can look forward to is booing Manny Ramierez!!

Subway Series Round 2

Well, part 2 of the Subway Series is at Citi Field. Let's hope the Mets do a little bit better than they did a couple of weeks ago. The Yankees have won 2 in a row, while the Mets took 3 out of 4 from the Cardinals. I would be happy if the Mets can win 2 out of 3 this time. I won't comment on each game, but I will save any comments at the conclusion of this showdown. Stay tuned.....

M*E*T*S

I wrote the subject matter like that, because the Mets have too many people on the DL and it is beginning to look like a M*A*S*H unit. I believe that it is a direct connection to that World Baseball Classic, played before the season started. Why do you have something like that BEFORE the season, where it can take it's toll later on which it seems to be doing. All I know is, the Mets better get healthy in a hurry, otherwise this season can slip away real fast.

Playing Live

Hello out there in blogland. I meant to write this Sunday, but I got home kind of late Saturday night/Sunday morning and was a bit tired yesterday. Saturday night, my friend Keith has a band out in Long Island called Only One Joe...that is the drummer and he is the only Joe in the band, henceforth the name. They usually play in Port Washington, but they were in Mineola, and as usual they ask me to sit in with them for a few songs. The last few times I did 3 songs, but this time I did 4. And I must say it is damn nice to let me do 4 songs during their gig. I did Behind Blue Eyes, Dead Flowers, I Saw Her Standing There, and Wooly Bully. It was a blast!!

Meet The Mess

OY! This could have been a great week for the Mets, but they just can't take advantage of situations these days. They lost 2 out of 3 to the Phillies when they could have won 2 out of 3. I went to Citi Field for the first time Thursday night, and it looked like they could have won, but their bullpen was horrible once again. Nice stadium however.
They could have won 2 out of 3 to the Yankees, but that inexcusable play by Castillo didn't help, and even though they bounced back Saturday, that drubbing they took yesterday was just horrendous.
Again I say, OY!!

Mets

Well, the Mets beat the Phillies last night in a wild game with lots of home runs. Santana was not at his best, but a win is a win. Tonight is game 2 of the 3 game set and tomorrow, yours truly, will be attending his first game at Citi Field. Totally psyched!! More on that soon. Let's Go Mets!!

More music...

This past Tuesday I saw a FANTASTIC show at The Beacon Theater in NYC. Spinal Tap Unplugged and Unwigged..as it was billed. The 3 of them, Shearer, Guest and McKean, are excellent musicians as well as extremely funny people. They even had a great special guest..Elvis Costello. For those interested, here is the setlist:

Music for a change

I know I have been just posting mainly sports things, so I will take a break from that today. This past Saturday, I was at this fantastic party where there was a whole bunch of musicians to jam from the afternoon till as late as we can play. Of course there was great food too. However we had 2 drummers, bass, 2 lead and 2 rhythm guitarists. There was a keyboard set up, but person didn't show. I hardly ever get a chance to play with a keyboard player, so it would have been nice, but it was still great. We just did stuff we all know and played...with a couple of breaks...till 11:30 and nobody called the cops!! It was a blast and a half!!

The New York Mess

My how things change so quickly. The Mets had a 7 game winning streak. Pitching was great, as were the hitting and fielding. Now they have lost 4 in a row and look terrible. Of course it doesn't help that Carlos Delgado is out till at least August, and Jose Reyes is probably headed for the DL, among other wonderful things happening to the Mets right now.You can't help injuries. They play Bahstan in Fenway Pahk. Maybe they can turn things around. At worse they can have some chowda and Bahstan Scrad!!

Sunday, May 10, 2009

Let's go Mets!!

The Mets just won their 7th game in a row. The pitching is better, they are hitting with men on base and they just seem to be breaking away from the horrible way they were in a few weeks ago. Let's hope it continues.

Thursday, May 7, 2009

The Mets

Well, it's been a while since I wrote anything here, but after last night's 1-0 win over the Phillies, I felt the need to say a little something. Thank goodness Johan Santana is on this team. It is a shame the Mets can't score more runs for him, but I will take the win. They are now back to .500 and seem to be playing better. There are still some issues that need to be addressed, such as clutch hitting and pitching issues, but I am glad they are doing better.

2 GRRRS/One YAY

GRRR 1)The Rangers lost the series 4-3, after being up 3-1, nothing else to say.

GRRR 2)The Mets blew another lead with the bullpen screwing up again.

YAY! The Devils lost at home in a horrible way. Giving up 2 goals in the final 80 seconds.

Well, I need to happy about SOMETHING today!!

Monday, April 27, 2009

OY Times 2

OY #1: The Rangers. Up 3-1 against the Crapitals and now it is back to D.C. for game 7. Nothing is ever easy.

OY#2: Mr. Ollie Perez..or should I say Mr. Inconsistent. I truly believe a demotion may actually help him. But then who knows. It would have been nice if he could have pitched a good game and the Mets could have gotten a sweep of the Nats (Not Nat Birmbaum)and feel a little bit better about themselves.

That's it for the OY's. I have a feeling thre will be more in a day or two.

Sunday, April 19, 2009

Rangers

Well, fellow Ranger fans, being that they are up 2-0 against The Capitals with the next 2 at The Garden is just excellent. Lundqvist has been phenominal and they have even scored a couple of power play goals. There is still lots of hockey in this round, but ya gotta love it. Game 3 tomorrow at The Garden. The World's Most Famous Arena.

Good Sounds

There are some musicians that you never get tired of. Case in point is Jorma Kaukonen. For those not familiar, he was lead guitarist in The Jefferson Airplane and still is lead guitarist in Hot Tuna. Last night he was at a new place in N.Y. that opened in Dec, called the City Winery. It was Jorma, Barry Mitterhoff and Larry Campbell, from Bob Dylan's band. They were playing tunes from a new CD, which included an old Pig Pen tune called Operator, and of course some old Tuna favorites.
Plus after the show, he signed autographs on his new CD and I go tot meet him. That was way f*****g cool!!

Saturday, April 11, 2009

LOB

For those who may not know, LOB is short for left on base. Last year, The Mets had a problem with that. So many times, they had chances to win games, but couldn't do the job. Now I am not panicking yet since the season just started, but the Mets lost to the Marlins last night and could have won....I know...woulda, coulda, shoulda....but they left 14 men on base. That is absolutely HORRIBLE. They better get their act together and soon.

HALLELUJAH!!!!!

True to my word, I said I wouldn't write anything till the Rangers made the playoffs or was eliminated. Well, I am happy to report, that The Rangers beat the hated Flyers tonight at The Garden to secure a playoff spot. Who they play and how they will fare is another story, but as long as they are in the playoffs, anything is possible. LET'S GO RAN-GERS!!!!!

P.S. POTVIN SUCKS!!!Sorry had to write it...I am giddy!!)

Music...for a change

I know I have been talking mostly about sports as of late, and I didn't even mention that The Mets won on Opening Day...HOORAY!! And as I previously mentioned, no word on that other team till Sunday.
This past Saturday however, was one of those shows that makes me glad and thankfull I live in New York. It was The Farewell To Jimmy Vivino Show at The Bowery Ballroom....a nice little place on The Lower East Side of Manhattan. For those who don't know, Jimmy is the lead guitarist for the Max Weinberg Seven on Conan O'Brien and since Conan is moving west, so is Jimmy. He is also the lead guitarist for The Fab Faux, the best Beatle cover band EVER, plus since I have seen him since the early 80's, he has played with Al Kooper, Son Seals, Johnny Johnson, and so many others. The band he played with is another side project called Prisoners of Second Ave, formerly called Steaks and Chops, and they do covers of tunes we all grew up with but may not have ever heard live. They are just phenominal. He is the setlist with the special guests. You may be familiar with these names.

Mr Soul
Deserted Cities
Smoke Signal
Pearly Queen
Love Ain't For Keeping w/Andy York
Tears of Rage
It's All Over Now Baby Blue w/Willie Nile
Had To Cry Today
New Day Yesterday

Rangers

Well, after that disgusting loss Thursday, and another bad loss Saturday, the Rangers are still not assured a playoff spot. Tonight they play the Devils at the Garden. Let's hope they can get back on track, cause there are not too many games left. This is the first time Avery and Brodeur will be on the ice at the same time since The Rangers eliminated the Devils at The Prudential Center last year. I was very fortunate to be there, with 50% Ranger fans in the house. However I will not write about anymore Ranger stuff till the regular season ends. Hopefully they will be in the playoffs so I will have something to say about that. And if they don't get in, oh boy I will have something to say about that as well!!

Friday, March 27, 2009

FORE!!

That is what the Rangers will be saying if they play anymore games like they did last night. How a horrible team like Atlanta can come back and score 3 goals and then win in a shootout is just plain horrible. I am a Ranger fan for many years, but after last nights game, they don't deserve to make the playoffs. Even if they do, they won't go too far.

Friday, March 20, 2009

Wish I could have been there....

The Allman Brothers are in the midst of their annual run at The Beacon Theater here in New York. This is their 40th anniversary, so at each show there is a special guest. There have been many good ones since the run started, but last night was the best so far. Eric Clapton. He did 6 songs, Key To The Highway, Anyday, Little Wing, Why Does Love Have To Be So Sad, Dreams, and of course Layla. I would love to get a copy of that show. As I said in the subject matter, wish I could have been there.

Monday, March 16, 2009

Still In It

Well, I haven't written about the Rangers in a while. I wanted to see how they fared against Carolina, Nashville and The home/home with Philly this past week. Well, after winning 2 of those 4 games, they are back above the make don't/make the playoff line. Lundqvist looks like he is over the flu, and Avery was just great on Sunday. Lets hope they stay that way.

Friday, March 6, 2009

A Trend?

Well, The Rangers beat The Ice-Landers at The Nausea Mausoleum last night 4-2. This is the last meeting of the 2 teams till next year. The Ice-Landers did dominate a good deal of the play, but it is the results that count. One thing is for sure, there were plenty of Ranger fans there. That is now 2 in a row for The Rangers. They have The Bah-stan Bruins Sunday at The Garden and that won't be a cakewalk, but the team has improved greatly within the last week, so anything is possible.
As always, stay tuned.....

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Avery Nice Thing

Well, Sean Avery is back with The Rangers. Hopefully his presence, will help them make the playoffs. Of course one player does not make a team. The rest of The Rangers have to turn it up a notch or two. The six goals the other night was nice, and you can't expect that every night of course, but they have to stay consistent.
Tomorrow they play The Ice-Landers at The Nausea Mausoleum. A thorough domination would be nice. We shall see.

Sunday, March 1, 2009

STOP THE PRESSES!!!!

THE RANGERS SCORED 6 GOALS LAST NIGHT!!!
AND I HEAR THEY COULD HAVE AVERY BY THURSDAY!!

LET'S HOPE THE SCORING CONTINUES.

STAY TUNED.....

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Out with the old, in with the new

Well, us Ranger fans got our wish, as Tom Renney was fired to be replaced by John Torotrella. Hopefully the new coach can light a fire under their tuchuses, and they can make the playoffs. Now if Glen Sather can be fired, that would really be good since it was he who god rid of Avery and Shannahan, to name 2, and got replacements that aren't as good. However Jim(I'm As Dumb As I Look) Dolan wouldn't even think of firing Slats. Too bad someone can't fire Dolan!

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

A-Cheat

I am so tired of hearing about Alex Rodriguez. Yes it is honorable he admitted he took performance enhancing drugs, but those stats shouldn't count, since he basically was cheating. Michael Phelps has a picture of him smoking a bong, which wasn't the smartest thing I admit, but he won his 8 gold medals CLEAN!! Anyone who used that stuff should have their stats changed as well. But I know Bud(I Am A Moron)Selig would never think of doing something like that.

Sunday, February 15, 2009

Tee Times?

That title is referring to The New York Rangers. Because if they don't get their act together, they will be playing golf earlier than they plan to. I know this type of staement usually happens to any team not playing well at this point in a season, and there are roughly 25 games left, but after today's loss to the Flyers, they seem to just going through the motions. WAKE UP RANGERS!!!!!!!

Thursday, February 12, 2009

Hallelujah times 2

1)The Rangers won 5-4 in a shootout and got off the schneid. Now if they can only keep the momentum going.
2)Brett Favre retired from the Jets. GOOD!! He is the reason they didn't make the playoffs and anyone can dispute that, but it is my opinion. They need to get a younger QB not someone who has only a few years left...like Kurt Warner, and some other older QB names that have been bandied about.

Saturday, February 7, 2009

OY!!

The Rangers lost 10-2 last night.
There is nothing else to say.

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

Couldn't do it for Gravy

Last night was a great night for Adam Graves, who definitley deserved his number being raised to the rafters of The Garden. Besides being a great player, he gave of himself off the ice too. It's a shame others aren't like him. It's also a shame the Rangers couldn't win last night. Yeah they got a point out of it, but they have been flat as of late. Not a good time to be that. They best get back to some winning ways, or else get them golf clubs ready in the spring.

A Super Thought

Well, football is done for another year. Yes there is the Pro Bowl next week, but nobody I know watches it. It is like The Who Cares Bowl.
The Super Bowl was one of the better games in recent years. I know the argument has cropped up which was better, last year, or Sunday's game. Regardless, it was a good game down to the wire and you can't ask for more. The only curious thing to me and with the people I hung out with was, why didn't Arizona get the ball first after they won the coin toss. That didn't make sense to me. I am not saying that going on defense first was the reason they lost, but this is The Super Bowl for goodness sakes, don't you want to try and score first?
Well, at least Arizona got there. Not an easy task to be sure.

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Not good

Well. The Rangers were at Pittsburgh last night, and until the 3rd period, it was pretty evenly matched with the score tied at 1. Then the Rangers fell apart and gave up 5 goals in the 3rd period. I hope this is not the shape of things to come.

Friday, January 23, 2009

A real bad joke

Not much going on, so I will tell a real bad joke I made up.
An ad came up at this site I was on for some fancy schmancy furniture called Hoorchow.
I got to thinking, it sounds like food for prostitutes.

Monday, January 19, 2009

Hallelujah!!

The Jets have a new coach!! Rex Ryan, from The Ravens. Thanks to The Steelers.
Now if only The Jets can get a new QB to last the WHOLE season, then I will have more reason to get excited.

Friday, January 16, 2009

A Thought

To get away from sports and stuff for a minute,it is a MIRACLE that all those people on that plane that crashed in The Hudson River , are all alive. For those that don't believe in miracles, maybe this will change your mind. That pilot is a hero and should be awarded some sort of commendation for his actions. More times than not, something like this does not have a happy ending, but thankfully it did!!

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

You can pull the wool over my ice!

Ahh. It is always so nice, when The Rangers go into The Nausea Mausoleum, and beat the Ice-Landers. The way the Ice-Landers were going in the first period, the result might have been different, but Lunqvist was superb. And at this time I would also say...POTVIN SUCKS!!

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Now it's hockey and wait for baseball...

Well, the Giants lost I and I am really surprised. They were totally flat today. I know the Eagles were lucky to get in the playoffs, but they played real well. Now no more football in NY for a while, although it will be intersting to see how long it will take the Jets to get a new coach, and how long it will take Favre to announce that he is retiring.
I just hope the Rangers play like they did in the fall...nice shutout by Henrik last night...and wait for pitchers and catchers.

Saturday, January 10, 2009

Random thoughts....

Hello out there. I haven't posted anything since the New Year. I eventually was going to, but I guess I wasn't in the mood to write anything since the Jets collapsed they way they did, but here goes.

Well it's January, which means the Rangers feel the need to play inconsistent as they do after playing strong in the fall. I know this won't last, but they better get their act together.
Eric Mangini is now coach of Cleveland, and the Jets still don't have a new one. I see that Johnson and Tannenbaum had a real good plan on getting a replacement. Plus Favre still hasn't decided on whether to retire or not. Looks like business as usual for the Jets
Oh yeah, The Giants play the Eagles on Sunday. Should prove to be intersting. It is difficult to win a Super Bowl, but I would imagine the Giants would like to do what only a few teams did and win 2 in a row. They don't have Plaxico this time, and the Eagles are no slouch. Stay tuned...
